Alaska authorities warn public about wounded bear

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Authorities in Alaska are warning people about a brown bear that was shot and wounded in a camping area near a softball complex.
Valdez police say a 39-year-old Fairbanks man, David Avery, fired two rounds at the bear with a hunting rifle at about 9 p.m. Sunday on the south side of the softball complex.
Police say reports indicate the bear was injured, but the animal ran into the woods.
