YMCA day campers learn that spreading kindness can be contagious

Smearing peanut butter and jelly on white bread, a group of 64 elementary school kids spent a recent afternoon preparing and packing sandwiches for the homeless. Each included a sealed message written in crayon: “Have a nice day,” punctuated by a smiley face, or, more directly, “Enjoy your sandwich.”
