World Cup: Here’s what it looked like in East LA and Santa Ana after Mexico beat Germany

Mexico’s soccer team won Saturday’s opening World Cup match against Germany, and Southern California cities including East Los Angeles and Santa Ana, which have large Mexican populations and communities, celebrated big time.
In East LA, people lined Whittier Boulevard waving Mexican flags and wearing green jerseys and sombreros. Drivers honked their horns as they passed by.
Some were even lighting fireworks just after the game ended locally at 10 a.m.
