Woman blows off thumb while using fireworks in Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA – A woman blew off her thumb while using fireworks early Saturday, July 1, fire officials said.
At 2:20 a.m., the Costa Mesa Fire Department responded to College Hospital Costa Mesa at 301 Victoria St., where the 29-year-old woman had driven after her fireworks accident, Costa Mesa Police Department Sgt. B. Le said.
Fire department officials transported the woman to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment, Le said.
