Will SoCal adopt Mexico as World Cup home team in U.S. absence?

Alexi Lalas, who played for the United States men’s national soccer team in the 1994 World Cup, made waves when he came out in support of the Mexican national soccer team on Twitter on Monday.
With Luis “El Matador” Hernandez and Dwayne De Rosario (a Canadian national), Lalas announced publicly his decision to back the Mexican team.  Twitter commenters didn’t hold back. Some shamed Lalas for being a “traitor,” among other considerably more violent words.
