Nick Cafardo died last week, just outside the spring training clubhouse in Fort Myers, on a day when he was supposed to be off.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora was so upset that he didn’t talk about his players that day. He just talked about Nick. Baseball people on all levels were shaken. Cafardo was a calm, diligent, kind fellow in a business that isn’t overflowing with them. He was 62.
