Whicker: Boxing should be thankful Danny O’Connor survived, but it shouldn’t stop there
Sometimes a fiasco isn’t enough. Sometimes it takes a tragedy.
Perhaps the people who run boxing will wedge themselves between the two, to keep a bad night from going dark.
The only reason they have a chance to do that is because Danny O’Connor is still alive.
O’Connor was a welterweight from Framingham, Mass. He moved from 147 to 140 pounds three fights ago. He was at 139 when he defeated Steve Claggett in Boston.
