Waving the white flag on patriotism

America’s birthday has come and gone, our 243rd, which is a long time until you do the math.
At 102-years of age, actor Kirk Douglas has been alive for 42 percent of our nation’s history. Another Douglas, me, has been around for about 25 percent.
While 243 might be old by human standards, it still makes the United States one of the younger nations. Iceland has been around for a thousand years. China for 5,000. Egypt? Well, you get the point. So maybe we can chalk up this year’s
