Water-main break floods, closes busy Irvine road

A water-main break early Tuesday, April 10, flooded a busy Irvine road, prompting its closure.
The rupture was reported at around 4 a.m. in the 2100 block of Michelson Drive. Muddy water flooded the road and a large sinkhole that developed in a lane.
Northbound Jamboree Road, between Michelson Drive and the I-405 freeway, and westbound Michelson Drive, between Loop Road and Jamboree Road, were closed.
As of 8:10 a.m., they had not re-opened.
Water district officials were on scene.
