Vietnamese immigrant to challenge Rep. Ed Royce

Fountain Valley pediatrician Mai Khanh Tran announced her candidacy against Republican congressman Ed Royce on Monday, joining fellow Democrat Phil Janowicz in challenging the 13-term incumbent.
Tran, a former farmworker, arrives in the race with an immigrant-to-doctor story she believes will resound in the district, which extends from Fullerton into Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
