USC’s Michael Norman breaks collegiate record in 400 meters

USC sophomore Michael Norman set a collegiate record in the men’s 400 meters Friday during the NCAA outdoor track and field championships in Eugene, Ore.
Norman finished with a time of 43.61 seconds, shattering the previous mark set last year by Texas A&M’s Fred Kerley by 0.09 seconds. His time also broke Michael Johnson’s 43.74-second record at historic Hayward Field.
In March, the 20-year-old sprinter had set an indoor world record with a winning time of 44.52 second
