UCLA’s short-handed freshmen steadily gain experience
LOS ANGELES — Steve Alford knew he was going to have to count on his freshmen this season. He just thought there would be more of them to carry the load.
Three indefinite suspensions slashed UCLA’s vaunted freshman class almost in half, and the remaining rookies are still finding their bearings in college with three nonconference games remaining. The young Bruins, on the heels of their first true road game, now face their first ranked team.
