LOS ANGELES — Facing the premature end to a historic season, Madeline Jelenicki did what many college athletes do in times of distress. She got on Twitter.
Two hours after a loss to Cal State Fullerton knocked third-seeded UCLA into an elimination game, Jelenicki posted a photo of her teammates surrounding her during a postgame TV interview. She would play what could have been, with a loss, her final collegiate softball game, in about two more hours.
