UCLA prepares for ‘special’ USC QB Sam Darnold

LOS ANGELES — After Sam Darnold helped USC trample UCLA last year at the Rose Bowl in his crosstown rivalry debut, UCLA head coach Jim Mora couldn’t help but heap praise onto the Trojan signal-caller.
Mora called Darnold, with his poise, arm strength and ability to extend plays with his legs, a “young Tony Romo.” He was “truly a special one” to watch in person, the coach said.
During the past year, Mora has continued to gush about the quarterback across town.
