UCLA baseball’s Garrett Mitchell emerging as force on top-ranked team

LOS ANGELES — Jake Pries helped an affable freshman with little hoop earrings take a mandated concussion test on a computer and knew immediately there was something different about Garrett Mitchell.
Then he saw him on the baseball field.
“I’ve never seen anybody like this in my life,” UCLA’s senior outfielder said of his first impressions of Mitchell on the field.
