UC Irvine tops Kent State in Don Haskins Invitational opener

EL PASO, Texas — Collin Welp had 18 points and Brad Greene added a career-high 16 as UC Irvine got past Kent State 74-68 in the opener of the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational on Monday.
Evan Leonard added 15 points and five rebounds for the Anteaters (7-5), and Eyassu Worku had six assists. Welp, who was 6 for 12 from the field, added a team-high seven rebounds and John Edgar Jr. had six.
