Uber driver, passenger escape 405 freeway plane crash: ‘We were engulfed in flames’

An Uber driver and his passenger narrowly escaped an explosion Friday morning, June 30, caused when a small plane carrying two people crashed onto the I-405 freeway near John Wayne Airport.
The driver, Blackstone Hamilton, was bringing a man to the airport from Fountain Valley. The two were chatting when it happened.
