Trump’s farm bailouts have been a predictable failure
A $12 billion subsidy program started by the Trump administration to aid farmers harmed by the administration’s trade policies has done little good to date.
Last week, The New York Times reported that of the first $6 billion made available to farmers in September, only $838 million has been paid out. That’s hardly enough to offset the economic harms of retaliatory tariffs imposed on United States exports in response to Trump administration tariffs.
