Truck driver killed in Newport Beach after crossing PCH into oncoming traffic

The driver of a truck died when the vehicle crossed over a raised median into oncoming traffic on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach Friday night, July 20, police said.
Officers responded to a call about the collision near Promontory Drive west of Jamboree Road at 11:47 p.m.
The westbound truck hit a Scion driven by an Uber driver, who had one passenger, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Robert Bennett said.
The Uber driver was in intensive care at a hospital on Saturday morning, Bennett said.
