Any mention of New Orleans brings to mind several images, mardi Gras, muffulettas, and music among them. Most of the attention seems to be focused on the French Quarter with its endless parades and rowdy tourists. While this district has several historic landmarks and world-renowned bars and restaurants, there are so many other areas of New Orleans worth exploring. Two in particular, the Garden District and Bywater/Marigny, offer a more low-key alternative to experiencing the Big Easy.
