Torch at LA Coliseum lit in memory of Rafer Johnson, 1960 Olympic gold medalist

LOS ANGELES — The torch at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will be lit through sundown Thursday in memory of 1960 Olympic decathlon gold medalist Rafer Johnson, who famously lit the torch to open the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Johnson died Wednesday at his home in Sherman Oaks. He was 86.
