To confront serious problems, be practical, not partisan

My wife and I spent this past January in Australia.
We witnessed the daily effects of the bushfires and their coverage in the Australian press. Critics of Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison focused much scorn on him for not fighting climate change.  This directed attention to global issues and away from addressing the Australian fires in practical terms.
We could make the same mistake in politicizing California’s wildfires and America’s responses to the coronavirus.
