‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ at the Pasadena Playhouse is a beautiful thing

The idea of turning a modern-day advice column into a play may seem an odd one, but this column was not the standard. Cheryl Strayed’s stint as the online “Dear Sugar” blended empathy and hard-learned wisdom with a non-authoritarian approach which led to a significant following.
When she turned some of the more powerful of the interactions with those who reached out to her for help, the resulting book proved equally powerful.
