Those flashing brake lights are OK

Q. I travel the I-5 Freeway, going north at around 3:45 p.m. to get home from work on weekdays. I have noticed a couple of small sports cars whose brake lights are strobes – the lights go on and off rapidly when the brakes are applied. Are they legal?

A. They are.
Honk has never seen them on the road, and neither has Tino Olivera, a California Highway Patrol officer and spokesman out of the agency’s Santa Ana office.
Both looked at online videos of guys
