The Korean War gets closer to closure

The Korean War never ended. It began in June 1950, when the North Korean People’s Army crossed south of the 38th parallel into the Republic of Korea. U.S. troops were there in July. By the time the fighting stopped in 1953, 5 million people, both soldiers and civilians, were dead. No peace treaty was signed.
More than 7,600 American soldiers remain unaccounted for, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
