Suspect in altercation with deputies fatally shot in San Clemente

A person was shot during an altercation with deputies in San Clemente and died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23, authorities said.
The incident took place near El Camino Real and Avenida Junipero at about 1:15 p.m., Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Mike Tanabe said.
Further information regarding the shooting and what led up to it were not immediately available. Authorities did not specify if the suspect was armed.
