Stop California cities’ code-violation rip-off

Chickens may soon be coming home to roost for one of California’s most exploitative schemes. In Indio, Coachella and dozens of other cities, residents have been criminally prosecuted for ridiculous code violations and then slapped with hefty bills, forcing them to pay for their own prosecution.
Now a new bill would end this pernicious form of prosecuting for profit. The bill, AB2495, has already passed the California Assembly unanimously and is currently under consideration in the Senate.
