Southern Utah hands Long Beach State its 5th straight loss

LONG BEACH — Long Beach State held Southern Utah to just 11 points through the first 12 minutes of Thursday’s game at the Pyramid, but Cameron Oluyitan and the Thunderbirds shook off their slow start, rallied, then pulled away for an 84-63 nonconference victory.
Oluyitan scored a career-high 27 points, going 6 for 8 from behind the 3-point arc. He made four of his 3-pointers after intermission when the Thunderbirds broke the game open with a 20-4 run to start the second half.
