Six weeks before the trade deadline, Angels trying to define their position

NEW YORK — As the Angels navigate one of the most difficult gauntlets of their schedule, they are sitting in an uncertain position. They are stuck in the middle, between being “in” and “out” of the playoff race.
Designating them one or the other really doesn’t mean anything except when approaching the July 31 trading deadline, as teams typically decide if they’re going to trade the future for the present, or vice versa.
