Should animal abusers get mandatory mental health evaluations?
Senator Scott Wilk, R-Antelope Valley, introduced legislation Monday, March 26, which would require those convicted of animal abuse crimes to undergo mandatory mental heath evaluations and ongoing psychological counseling, if necessary.
Wilk said the link between animal abuse and future violence can be weakened by early intervention with mental health services and education.
