Shark scare doesn’t slow world’s best young surfers at Lower Trestles
The buzz on the beach about the shark that jumped out of the water at Lower Trestles during the USA Surfing championships earlier this week had fizzled by Friday, June 21. The real talker was the fun swell that showed up and allowed the best young surfers in the country to showcase their skills.
The contest at the cobblestone beach just south of San Clemente brings the top amateur surfers to town from Hawaii, the East Coast and, of course, right up the road to battle it out for a national title.
