Santa Anita notes: Improbable wins Hollywood Gold Cup

Add Improbable to the list of Hollywood Gold Cup winners after the 4-year-old son of City Zip scored the biggest victory of his 12-race career for trainer Bob Baffert on Saturday at Santa Anita.
Ridden to perfection by Drayden Van Dyke, Improbable, the 4-1 favorite in last spring’s Kentucky Derby, took the lead from pacesetter Brown Storm heading into the final turn and then sprinted clear to win the $300,000 Grade I Gold Cup for his fifth victory and second at Santa Anita in three starts.
