Ryan Getzlaf is earning that ‘C’ on his Ducks jersey

ANAHEIM — Ryan Getzlaf was 25 when the Ducks voted to select a new team captain for 2010-11. Scott Niedermayer had retired at the end of the previous season and the logical pick for his replacement was 35-year-old Saku Koivu, a seasoned veteran who had served as captain of the Montreal Canadiens.
The players voted and it was a tie. Half wanted Koivu, half wanted Getzlaf.
Koivu broke the deadlock by endorsing Getzlaf.
