Rocket carrying US spy satellite blasts off from Vandenberg

A United Launch Alliance rocket carrying a secret spy satellite for the National Reconnaissance Office blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 19.
The launch, which went according to plan, could be seen for miles from the Lompoc-area launch site due to crystal clear skies.
