Rising rents show need for more housing

The high cost of housing in Orange County cannot be resolved without reducing barriers to the construction of affordable housing.
According to a recent report from the California Housing Partnership Corporation, when housing costs are factored in, the county’s poverty rate soars from 12.3 percent to 21.5 percent. This is an untenable situation which, in the long term, requires changing attitudes in the county, and communities across the state, about the importance of housing construction.
