Retired assistant sheriff is Lake Forest’s newest councilman

The Lake Forest City Council picked a retired assistant sheriff, Mike James, to finish up the last year of a vacant term on the dais.
A dozen candidates applied for the position, left open in August when Councilwoman Leah Basile moved out of town with her family. Council members, except Councilwoman Neeki Moatazedi, chose James as their first pick. The council voted unanimously to appoint James.
