Rep. Katie Porter pushes CDC to cover coronavirus testing for uninsured Americans
Rep. Katie Porter this morning pressed Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control, to commit his agency to pay for coronavirus testing for uninsured Americans if it’s medically needed.
About 28 million Americans are uninsured.
In a six-minute exchange during a congressional hearing, Porter, D-Irvine, told Redfield that it costs an American at least $1,331 out of pocket for coronavirus testing.
