Redevelopment bill comes at worst time

Gov. Gavin Newsom last year wisely vetoed Senate Bill 5, which would have revived California’s money-draining, property-rights-eroding redevelopment agencies in a new and not-so-improved form.
There are many reasons to have opposed such legislation, but the governor specifically cited financial concerns in his veto message.
