Proposed schedule change could have major impact on baseball, softball seasons

The first day of the baseball and softball seasons in 2019 will be Feb. 9 if a proposal to change those sports’ start dates passes at the CIF-Southern Section Council meeting Wednesday, Jan. 24.
The proposal, if it passes, could change the schedules of some long-running baseball and softball tournaments. And perhaps eliminate some of them.
The Council is the CIF-Southern Section’s legislative body. It is made up of CIF-SS league representatives and five at-large voters.
