Primary battle expected in 74th Assembly District

The only Orange County state seat now held by a Democrat that’s expected to see a competitive primary is AD-74, which stretches along the coast from Huntington Beach to Laguna Beach and includes most of Irvine.
The district leans red, by 2 percentage points, but that margin is shrinking quickly. In 2018, voters elected Democratic Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris of Laguna Beach to the seat.
