Plane crashes near March Air Reserve Base, 215 Freeway shut down

A plane initially identified as an F-16 fighter crashed Thursday, May 16, at March Air Reserve Base, authorities and eyewitnesses said.
The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m.
The plane was reported as having crashed into a building near the base.
The pilot, believed to be the only person on board the plane, appears to have ejected and is being medically evaluated, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
