Pilot dies when plane crashes at El Monte airport

A pilot was killed Friday morning when a small plane crashed while taking off from a runway at the San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte.
Only the pilot was on board when the plane went down, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
El Monte Police Lt. Ernie Cramer said the crash was reported to the station at 9:35 a.m.
About an hour after the crash, fire officials at the scene said the pilot’s body was trapped inside the plane, and would need to be cut out. Greg
