Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on freeway in San Clemente

A male pedestrian was killed Sunday night, Aug. 6, when he was hit by a car on the 5 freeway in San Clemente, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported about 11:50 p.m. after the pedestrian was seen standing in the number four lane of the southbound 5 freeway near Avenida Mendocino facing eastward, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a Ford was traveling on the freeway and struck the pedestrian. Behind the car, there was a Toyota traveling in the same direction.
