Orange County’s first flu season death is a toddler

A previously healthy male toddler is Orange County’s first flu-related death of the season, the Orange County Health Care Agency announced Thursday, Nov. 9.
Lab testing this week confirmed the boy was infected with the influenza A virus.
“This is an important reminder that influenza can cause serious illness, particularly in the very young,” County Health Officer Dr. Eric Handler said in a statement. “Everyone over six months of age should be vaccinated each year.”
