Old-school baseball alive and well
Amid the home runs and walk-off victories, one of the most poignant moments of the 2019 high school baseball season occurred last week in a Wave League game between Marina and Corona del Mar high schools.
In a crucial moment in the bottom of the sixth inning in a scoreless game, Marina pitcher Chase Hennessey twisted his wrist with the ball in his right hand to deliver it to Marina Coach Toby Hess, who was one step from the top of the mound.
Only Hess didn’t take the ball.
