NHL draft: Expect the unexpected in what’s considered to be a deep talent pool

The New York Rangers have the first overall pick in the coronavirus-delayed NHL draft Tuesday. It’s expected that they’ll select winger Alexis Lafreniere, an offensive wunderkind who had 35 goals and 112 points in 52 games during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 junior-level season in Canada.
