Newport Beach detective is saluted, honored during procession

As the procession move along Monday morning, May 11, bystanders held American flags and many saluted, officers and civilians alike, to honor a Newport Beach police detective.
Over the weekend, 36-year-old Jon Jarema died after a two-year battle with cancer.
Police motorcycles led the line that included a hearse carrying Jarema’s remains from Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, where he died, to Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park in Corona del Mar.
