Newhall ‘MasterChef Junior’ contender wins challenge at Claremont’s Scripps College

Malia Brauer is enjoying the sweet taste of victory.
A week after she and Jaala Smith won the cupcake challenge, Malia was singled out for making the best coconut cream pie on Tuesday night’s episode of “MasterChef Junior” on Fox.
“I love cooking and baking, but I feel like I have grown as a baker on the show,” the 12-year-old Newhall girl said by phone.
The “coconut cream pie pressure test” was foisted on Malia and six other young home cooks after their
