More judges needed to handle asylum claims

A new report from the UN Refugee Agency says there were fewer new claims for asylum worldwide in 2017 — 1.9 million, down from 2.2 million in 2016.
However, the number of people waiting for their asylum claims to be processed is going in the opposite direction. There were 3.1 million people with pending asylum claims in 2017, up from 2.8 million the year before.
