MLB Draft: Beckman’s Matt McLain selected by Arizona Diamondbacks in first round

Beckman shortstop Matt McLain was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round (25th overall selection) of the MLB Draft on Monday.
McLain was a four-year starter at Beckman. He signed with UCLA, and has indicated a preference for UCLA over embarking immediately on an MLB career.
This season McLain batted .390 with 39 hits, seven doubles, two triples, five home runs and 35 runs scored.
Beckman coach Kevin Lavalle said McLain’s top attribute might his love for the game.
